Kinda lame, but the timeframe I've entered is from my vacation. This was taken during the 12th Annual Camping trip. The 27th was the date. The time, around Noon I believe. While my co-workers were hard doing things that are important, I was enjoying a nice quad ride in wonderful weather.

This shot was taken at the "cellphone spot." The spot not too far from camp where you could get service. And yes, I sent this to a homie and said "What are you looking at right now?"

...or something equally as rude

Today's post will be a quick one.

Simply a man and his car. I'm not a big Corvette crazy person, but, you know...I'd certainly take one. And if I had the money? I'd buy one too...

Step 1: REMOVE THE DAMN STICKERS

Monday, June 22, 2009

Today's picture is also from the 20th of May. Originally, I wasn't going to post it because I found the picture of the car with the ridiculous spoiler to be so much funnier. However, I thought this would be a good opportunity to go into a few things, using this truck as an example.

Here it is.

What's that, an early to mid 70's Chevy Suburban?

Before I discuss this, I need to clear the air. I was BIG TIME into lowrider mini-trucks in the early 90's. And I've always had a place in my heart for a good classic lowrider, hydrolics and all. Seriously.

BUT

One thing that's always bothered me is when people lowrider and/or street-rod full-sized trucks. It's a truck. If you want a hot-rod, just buy one. NOTE: for some reason there's a difference between a street-rod and a rat-rod, imo, and rat-rod trucks are cool.

With all that said, and my obvious opinions about overly large 4x4s. I think a lowered and tricked out suburban is cool. It's way to big to be an effective off-road vehicle, though I'm certain an early 70's K20 Suburban kicks major ass. This vehicle I'll accept. And tricked out mini-trucks I'll accept. But if I see an old full-sized truck, I'll rant. Even though I'll most likely think it looks very nice.

This and the spoiler image have been edited. I blurred out their license plate numbers. That will continue, just so you know. Everything else will be left camera stock.

Here's another quick one. This is from the 20th of May. I don't want to ruin it for ya so...

SPOILER

That wing probably costs more than the car.

Today's post is going to be fairly short but it's quite a tasty treat, and well, it's at someone else's expense too.

Took this back on the 19th of May (we're gettin' caught up!). Saw this poor vehicle in the parking lot at work. Not the nicest of quality picture, but the phone doesn't have a zoom and I didn't want to walk 1/2 way across the empty parking lot to get a better shot. My luck the owner is passed out in the back seat and would go berserk when they saw me taking a picture and laughing heartily.

OWNED

Since I have such a decent backlog of photos, I figured I'd put the next one out there while I have a few minutes.

I saw this at Checker Autoparts on the 15th of May. The first below shot was actually taken by accident as I didn't notice the car until I was leaving, which is when I took the 2nd shot.

You know, I just love American Muscle. But honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about the color. It's a bit sissy-lala. I imagine the driver is some massively built tattoo guy. It's not horrible, and actually, it looks pretty nice, but really? A pale mint green for an old Malibu? And what about them, what are they, 22" wheels? I'd much rather see something more classic. Seriously. Those wheels just make a really nice car look like a Hotwheels brand kiddy-toy. I guess if that's what you're going for then fine...

Anyhow, I do like how parts of the wheels are painted to match the body. I think it would look better with the original body moldings in place. If you are going to shave those, I'm of the opinion you are now obligated to do that to the door handles. If you're not willing to loose the doorhandles then BODY MOLDINGS FTW.

NOTE: Be warned. I'm not a big fan of large diameter wheels on the majority of vehicles. They look great on some, but others, well, just stupid. Give me 14" gold wire Daytons any day, kthxbai.

Sorry it took so long to get another post up. Hopefully things will be getting faster than this.

Here's the pics I promised. The very first car I took a picture of. When I saw it, I thought, HOLY COW I GOTTA GET A PICTURE OF THAT! And guess what? I had a camera.

Look at that thing! Here's a shot of it pulling away. How cool is that.

Humorously enough, considering I live in Arizona it's probably not cool at all. It's like a dude, sitting, what, 8 inches from a monster V8, surrounded by matte black steel. It sounded badAZ though. I'm fairly certain there was hardly an exhaust pipe let alone anything that looks and/or acts like a "muffler."

DO WANT

look for more posts with smaller gaps.

Before I start, let me advise these images are only edited in the fact that they are cropped and sized for display purposes. There has been no other modifications, alterations, or color corrections. Bitch about the picture quality? Complain to LG.

Well here we go.

I finally figured out how to get the stupid pictures off my camera. For being a programmer, it was oddly hard, yet /facepalm easy. I lol'd.

Anyhow, here's the first vehicle I saw that made me think "I've been seeing this shit for years, for the love of GOD it's about time I complain to EVERYONE about it." Honestly it's not the first "car pic" I took with my phone (that will be the next post), but this one was the deciding factor for this site so I fitured it was best to post this first. It was taken on May 10th, 2009 (we have a few pictures to catch up on before this is "live" stuff).

WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS?!?!?!

Do you REALLY want me to believe this vehicle is off-road worthy? I've gone "4-wheelin" and I do not see HOW THE HECK THIS WOULD FIT ON ANY OFFROAD TRAIL. not even like the dirt road that takes you to a trailhead for a good hike!

LOOK AT IT.

How big are those tires? like what, 3 foot? 4 foot tall? (36-48") LOOK AT THE SPACE BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE TIRE AND THE BODY PANELS. besides the fact that the suspension has ZERO play before you tear the quarterpanels off, it's ENTIRELY TOO LARGE, and well, the axle is STILL ABOUT WHERE IT ALWAYS IS, RIGHT WHERE THE BOLTS MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

tell me this goes offroad. TELL ME THIS GOES OFFROAD. I want to see it. PROVE IT TO ME. and don't just show me it on a dirt road. BS. I see this being an effective "go to the Lake" vehical. And well, my '71 Olds did that, many times over, with a shiton of peeps in it so well, you DO NOT NEED THAT SIZE OF A TRUCK. Seriously. Get a hotel room if you need to stroke your ego.

and honestly, don't even preach to me about the whole "who says you 'need' it" argument. it's obsurd and absolutely ineffective. you should thank your lucky stars your truck didn't fall over when you made that turn.

Menkey's Automotive History

Before I blabber off about other people's vehicles, it's only fair that I relate my vehicular past. This should be a fairly accurate list of the vehicle's I've owned. Unfortunately, I do not have pictures of most of them, and if I do, well, it's probably not digital and I really don't know where it is atm. I'll work on that. And if I can't find an actual picture of my vehicle, I'll link the closest thing I can find on the net.

These should be in order of ownership/purchase, not necessarily the order of driving.

1971 Oldsmobile 98
1994 Dodge Shadow (need to check year on this, maybe '90?)
1970 MGB-GT
Plymouth Neon (not sure on year, it was blue, 4 door, maybe an 2k?)
Dodge Neon (2 door, white, '04?)
Kia Sorento, '06 model
'05 Chevy Malibu MAXX
1973 Chevy C10 Longbed

I imagine at some point I'll relate stories and such on each vehicle, so worry not about history atm, just listing what I have personally owned. As you can imagine, this is nothing like the list of what I've driven...just like most of you.
Hello! And welcome to Menkey's AZ Auto Review.

This blog is currently under construction, but let me give you an idea of what you might find here shortly.

I've recently been given charge of a cell phone. I didn't want one. I've avoided them. But now I have a camera with me 24/7. I see a LOT of odd-ball cars on the road around these parts, and well, I always have a thing or two to say about some of them. I figured, WHY NOT SHARE IT WITH YOU!

The intention is to share a pic of a vehicle I saw on the road, and offer my thoughts on it. I see some really cool cars, some really horrible cars and some down-right absurd cars. Think about what you see daily during your commute... you don't have anything to say about any of them?

Anyhow, I've had the phone for a short bit now. Got it on Mother's Day. I've been practicing my photo capturing skillz (btw, cellphone cameras suck major ass.) and have a small archive of pics to start working with. I'll do my best to keep them coming. My original idea was "man I see crazy stuff every day!" but when I actually started taking pictures, it's maybe a couple vehicles a week. So we'll see how this goes.

Look for updates! This will be fun!
